Web Content Attracts Organic Visitors

Written by Dillon on October 28, 2008 – 5:09 am -

Over the years since the internet has become an important medium for businesses, there has been some debate in the search engine optimization community about what the most important factors are in creating a website that will rank well in the search engine listings. It seems that these days the debate is all but over and web content has been declared the king, or at the very least, the most important element to giving a site a viable chance to rank well and to draw site visitors back again and again.

While virtually all search engine optimization (SEO) experts now agree about the importance of content in order to attract the attention of internet surfers and the search engines, not all of these experts agree about what constitutes “good” website content. There are those who suggest that simply having loads of free website content such as PLR articles will be sufficient to attract the attention of the search engines, especially if the content is rich in keywords that are geared toward the topic of the site.

However, a good web content advisor will typically insist that the quantity of the free website content, combined with an excessive use of keywords, sometimes called keyword stuffing, is not nearly as important as the quality of the content. While the search engines can be lured to list a site highly in the search rankings based on a lot of keyword rich content, the live visitors to a site are not so easily fooled.

A good content writer knows that to succeed in traffic building they need to keep the attention of the human beings who are visiting a website, there must be good quality content that provides the visitor with the information that they are looking for. There is a standard formula that good copywriters use to help ensure that what they are writing for the website will do the job of keeping visitors on the site, exploring it fully, and encouraging them to come back.

The formula is summed up in a four-letter anagram: AIDA. This anagram stands for the four most critical elements of good website content that every content writer should keep in mind. These elements are: Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. To a new website owner looking to craft an introductory page to their website, this formula might seem intimidating.

But, if the web content writer will keep these four points in mind, while also remembering to keep the topic in mind at all times, the whole process can become rather automated and will flow easily. Gaining the attention of the website visitor can be as simple as crafting a good headline or an opening paragraph that speaks to their need or that sparks their curiosity.

Building curiosity can also lead directly into the second part of the formula, interest. Typically, website visitors are looking to gather information to enhance their lives or to solve a problem. Provide information that fuels that interest and they will continue reading further to gain information. If you have a solution to their problem, then build their desire to learn about that solution by explaining how it has helped others with similar problems.

Finally, good web content will encourage the reader to take action. A content writer must be writing with a clear idea about what action they want a website visitor to take. This is often referred to as a call to action and it can be something as simple as encouraging them to sign up for a newsletter that provides even more information, or that asks them to make a purchase.

If you own an internet retail store or a webpage then you know how important web content is for your business. The content that you display on your website can make or break your business. You have to know where to turn to for the right advertisements, the right links and even the right information. It can be very confusing at first but if you stick with it, you can make your webpage a true success. Even if you are not selling anything but instead providing information, you need to know the basics about the right content.

How To Make Money With Articles: Where To Find Affiliate Programs For Your Niche Website

Written by Dillon on October 24, 2008 – 8:49 pm -

To read an updated version about the best article marketing service and how to instantly multiply your article marketing efforts by 10 times check out Article Marketing Automation.

In this article I’m going to talk about making money online with articles and where to find affiliates for your niche website. When making money with articles that you place on your websites, you will also need a variety of good affiliate links that will help you to generate more revenue. It is important that you know where to find affiliate programs and that you choose the best affiliate programs for you and your niche site.

When you pick an affiliate, it is very important that you determine which companies you will profit best from based on the frequency that the product is likely to sell. There are several types of affiliate programs and some will offer you more money from a sale than others will. However, before you get hazy-eyed by dollar signs, remember that some products are bound to sell more than others. If you sell on product four times a year from a little known company that gives you $100 per sale or sell a well known product 3 times a week at the rate of $10 per sale, then you will make much more money with the $10 per sale product.

Large well known companies will, often, offer a very small profit per sale because they are established and know that their product is likely to sell well. Small, unknown companies, on the other hand, need all of the promotion they can get. Also, because these companies are unknown, their products are more likely to sell less frequently.

The most important rule when picking affiliate programs to promote on your site is to pick products that would be of interest to those who would likely visit your niche site. Otherwise you will be promoting a product to a group of people who do not even want nor need it. If your niche site targets parents of young children, then promote baby products. If you niche site is about gardeners, then simply promote gardening products etc. If you promote gardening products to parents of young children, you are almost guaranteed to not make a profit no matter how much money the affiliate program offers for a sale.

Lastly, there are two main ways to find an affiliate company for your niche website. You can sign up with a company that manages the accounts of hundreds of companies, big and small, and apply for the products within these accounts or you can do a web search for companies that would match well with your niche, visit their websites, and see if they advertise an affiliate program.

Key Factors for WP Blog Search Engine Optimization

Written by Dillon on August 30, 2008 – 6:41 am -

There’s no shortage of advice on the web regarding what people must do to enhance a WordPress web site’s position in the search engine listings. It is easy to become baffled when you devour everything that’s available, because a group of people concur with others while some altogether differ and provide different advice.

You should be very leery of any recommendation provided by somebody who tells you to use search engine submissions, use traffic exchanges, or employ Free For All (FFA) sites. It is so outdated it’s not even funny.

Recently a well-known group of SEO experts provided their professional opinions to SEOmoz regarding what’s important to gain outstanding search engine rankings today.

In short, here are the 4 heavy-hitter search engine optimization ranking factors, according to the experts’ consensus opinion.

Keywords that are Used in the Title Tag

Using the correct keywords in crafting the text for the title tag of a WordPress post is extremely important. It does not only assist with improved search engine rankings, it also helps with higher click-through from the search engine listings to your web page. It is of reduced value to be high up in the search results and not receive a high number of clicks. The ultimate purpose is to get as many targeted visits to the pages as possible.

The search engine bolds the keywords that were entered by the searcher. When part of the page title is shown in bold, it stands a better chance of being seen and receiving that click. Notwithstanding, bolded keywords aren’t the only element to consider when crafting the title.

Lots of extra clicks can be earned from a smartly composed page title tag, specially if it invites and entices the searcher to click. It’s more advantageous to receive a hundred clicks from the 5th position by using an enticing title than 50 clicks from the third listing with a badly written title tag, right?

Anchor Text of Links to Your Site

The anchor text that’s employed in the link that points to your web site from another web site counts a lot in the SE computations to determine what your web site is focused on. In addition, what your web site is focused on influences largely what keywords it will rank for in the search results.

If you can exert any influence on the anchor text that external web sites employ with their links to you, then it is an extremely productive way of investing your time.

The more web sites that have links to your web site using a certain set of keywords, or alternate versions of that keyword, will prompt the SE’s to more eagerly figure out that your site is focused on that certain keyphrase.

It is far more advantageous when the content of the destination page on your site contains that particular keyword and its latent semantic equivalents.

General Link Popularity of the Site

Search engines compute the relative importance of a web site from the number of hyperlinks that point to the web site. This includes both quality of hyperlinks and quantity of links.

The more distinct web sites that link to your web site, the higher the SE’s will rate the deemed importance of your site.

Link building is an ongoing effort. One can never have a sufficient number of backlinks pointing to your site. True, it’s possible to build links too fast and that could trigger some alerts with the search engines. Notwithstanding, if done as an ongoing action with a long-term outlook, every backlink deserves the effort of obtaining it. They all add up to an improved perceived importance of your web site.

The Internal Link Structure of the Site and Ensuing Link Popularity

It is a fact that some of your web pages will get more external links than other pages. The pages that do not get a lot of external backlinks could be the true income generating pages that you would wish to rank well in the search engine listings.

Internal linking structure, and the anchor text used for the internal links, is the way to distribute PageRank inside your own site. The wisest approach to success is with the plugin for WP search engine optimization that is explicitly designed to do just that.

Some search engine optimization experts believe that an internal link has the same weight as an external link. That doesn’t mean your web site will rank with only internal links. What it means is that you can get a certain page ranked by pointing internal links to it even though it doesn’t have lots of external backlinks, provided that the rest of your web site has accumulated sufficient PageRank from external backlinks.

In Conclusion

Search engine optimization might seem daunting when one views it in its entirety. However, when viewed as individual focus areas, there are a few comparatively uncomplicated activities one can focus on and make the largest gains.
